Synopsis: As the raft is almost ready to launch, Rousseau arrives to warn the survivors that the Others are coming, evidenced by black smoke rising in the distance. Jack shows Rousseau the hatch and enlists her help in trying to figure out how to open it. Rousseau agrees to take them to "black rock" where they might find some dynamite to blast open the hatch. Michael, Walt, Sawyer, and Jin end up on the raft and set sail in hopes of being rescued as the black smoke continues to rise on the horizon.

Flashback: In flashbacks, we see several of the passengers at the airport just as Oceanic flight 815 is set to depart.

OMG Moment: On the journey to black rock, one of the survivors is chased by the monster, which Rousseau explains is a "security system" for the island.

Questions and clues: What's at black rock? Why does the island need a security system? What does the black smoke mean? And are the Others really on their way to the beach?
