History: ABC was created in 1944 after NBC, which was two networks, sold one to Edward Novel. NBC's networks were the Blue network and the Red network. Novel was given the Blue network in 1943, but changed the name to ABC in 1944. Later that year, ABC was owned by UPT, and then in 1953, Capital Cities. ABC was bought by the Walt Disney Company, which currently owns the network today.
Lost Production: ABC began to fall behind in ratings, dropping behind NBC, CBS, and Fox. Llyod Braun, chairman of ABC, wanted to create a show that would become more popular than NBC's ER. Jeffery Lieber wrote a script about a group of castaways on an island. He did not like it, and asked J. J. Abrams to re-write it. Abrams added more science fiction to it, making the island extraordinary. The show
ABC Studios, formerly Touchstone Television, produces Lost for ABC. The Los Angeles office of the Hawaiian based Grass Skirt Productions is located at ABC at Disney Studios. This is the main location for the writers and production crew. Most producers are located here, except for Jack Bender and Jean Higgins, who are in Honolulu.
Websites: ABC owns several websites for the show Lost. ABC's website (link) has videos, episode recaps, bios on characters and the actors, photos, podcasts, and many other features. ABC also has full episode viewing (link), which streams episodes of various ABC shows, including Lost. However, only viewers in the United States can access this. ABC Medianet (link) shows press releases of the latest episode of Lost and other information.
