Anthony Cooper (Actor: Kevin Tighe)

Biography: Anthony Cooper is the best known alias of John Locke's biological father, another of which is Tom Sawyer. Cooper was shown to have also used the alias of Adam Seward, and he claimed to have used Ted MacLaren, Louis Jackson and Paul. He is, by his own admission, a con man. He seduced James Ford's mother, Mary Ford, and then used her in order to obtain money from her and her husband. This prompted James to tak Sawyer's name, and hunt him down. Cooper was killed by Sawyer.

His Story

Father of John Locke, he was out of Locke's life ... until he needed a kidney, that is. Locke still harbors many anger issues because of his father's deception, but that didn't stop Anthony from approaching Locke to help with one last, post-"mortem" con, which led to Helen leaving John. Nice work, dad. 3-22-07 Update! Through a series of further flashbacks into Locke's life, we discover that, 4 years prior to the plane crashing on the island, Cooper pushed Locke through a 8th story window and paralyzed him after John confronted him about all his cons. Back to current time, and Ben asks for "The Man from Tallahassee." Then as Locke explores the Others community with Ben, Cooper suddenly appears, on the island. Is he the man from Tallahassee? (I've removed the comment about the box being a room because the producers have confirmed that "The Box" is metaphorical, or symbolic, not literal.)

Cooper is the original Sawyer, the man who conned James' (who now goes by Sawyer) mother into giving him a large amount of cash. James' father found out about this and killed his wife then himself. Ever since then Sawyer took up this name (and occupation as a con artist) and has been searching for the real Sawyer (now known to be Anthony Cooper.)

In "The Brig", Locke takes Sawyer to kill Ben. They go to the Black Rock. Locke locks up Sawyer in a room with the masked man. It was not Ben, but Anthony Cooper. He then found out that Cooper is the original Sawyer. He didn't want to kill Cooper, but as Cooper continually shows his lovely personality, Sawyer can't handle it and strangles Cooper. Locke then came into the room and thanked Sawyer for killing him.

His picture also appears on the Board of Directors for The Widmore Group.
