Who she was before: Harper Stanhope received her Bachelors degree at Columbia University, and her Masters degree at Yale University in psychology. She also received the "Certificate of Recognition" from the Hanso Foundation.

Who she is now: Harper Stanhope was married to Goodwin Stanhope, and was Juliet's therapist when she first arrived on the Island. She soon found out that Juliet was having an affair with her husband, and warned her that if Ben found out, Goodwin would die. Ben sent Goodwin to spy and gather information about the survivors of the tail section. He later died when Ana-Lucia discovered he was not a survivor of the plane crash.

When Juliet was walking through the jungle, Harper appeared, with a message from Ben. The message was that she must stop Daniel and Charlotte's mission at the Tempest, no matter what. She said that the Tempest contains gases that the people on the boat will use to kill everyone on the Island. She disappeared when Juliet and Jack heard whispers in the jungle.
