Introduction: Jin-Soo Kwon is one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. He is the only middle section survivor not to speak English. However, he has picked up many words and phrases on the island with the helps of his bilingual wife Sun. Their marriage has been a bumpy road since arriving on the island.

Hails from: A small fishing village near Seoul, Korea.

Plane Section: Middle

Who he was before: Grew up fishing with his father and then became a doorman at the Soeul Gateway Hotel, a very upscale establishment in central Soeul. Was also a waiter working parties for Mr. Paik, Sun's father. After falling in love with Sun and becoming engaged, he began working as an enforcer for his wife's mobster father, Mr. Paik.

Who he is now: The best fisherman on the Island; becoming more into his own, as he is learning more english. He may be a father soon, now that Sun is pregnant.

Why he was in Australia: On business for Sun's father.

Daddy issues: Ashamed of his rural roots and father’s humble status as a fisherman, he tells everyone his father is dead.

More Info:
Pre-island: Met and wooed the wealthy Sun. Worked for Sun's father. Sun learned from a fertility doctor that Jin would be unable to father children.
On the island: During the first days on the island, Jin came across as very protective over Sun and distanced the two of them from the rest of the survivors. His relationship with Sun nearly ended when he found out Sun had learned to speak fluent English behind his back. Soon, Jin proved himself to be very helpful to the other survivors with his fishing and building skills. He assisted Michael and Sawyer in building the raft, and set sail with Sawyer, Michael, and Walt before The Others cut off their escape. After the make-shift raft was burned, Jin reached shore before Michael and Sawyer and was subsequently captured by The Tailies. When Jin tried to escape he ran back to the beach just as Sawyer and Michael were reaching land. It was here the Tailies also captured Michael and Sawyer along with re-capturing Jin. When the fuselage survivors spotted Desmond's sailboat just off shore, it was Jin who offered to help Sayid sail the boat around the island to help Jack thwart Michael's trap.


Big secret: Unknown to Sun, her father sent Jin to kill the man Sun had an affair with. Jin didn't kill him, even though he was supposed to, but it didn't matter, because the man (possibly) commited suicide. Jin was in Australia supposedly to pick up a watch and deliver this to one of Mr. Paik's clients in the United States. He planned to never return to Seoul so he and Sun could escape her father, but he did not tell Sun of his plan.

Q: If not Jin, who is the biological father of Sun's baby? Could it have been the man that was teaching her English?
A: Jin is the biological father of Sun's baby. Juliet proved this when she took an ultrasound for Sun.
