Joop is an orangutan, who is currently 107 years old (106 during the Lost Experience). The average lifespan of an orangutan is 60 years. He is an experiment (known as experiment 626) of the Hanso Foundation's Life Extension project. His 105th birthday on September 21, 2005 was considered a major milestone. The Hanso Foundation's website had a section called Joop's corner, where people could find information about him, and a live webcam of him. Sometimes, a disturbing image of a man in Joop's cage is seen, and it is said that the Hanso Foundation tortured him.
