I hate the fact loadsa good characters are killed off before we get a chance to know anything about them. It wasn't fair killing Libby because it seemed she could be interesting. In regard to the below post, can't Libby be short for Elizabeth?

The deaths are necessary. There are a sacrifice that the island demands. Ha ha. Seriously though, everyone on the island dies for a reason. If the island allows you to die then you have fulfilled the purpose you were intended for. I can't say that it doesn't make me mad when characters (like Libby and Mr. Eko) die, it makes the show what it is. No one is safe.

I had tears in my eyes when she died! It sooo wasn't her fault; she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time! I hate Michael now!!!!!! Even though he's gone :@!!! And I felt REALLY REALLY REALLY sorry for Hurley! If he'd remembered the blankets!

I think that Libby is a Schizophenic (spelling?). Her alter ego is maybe named Elizabeth. She was disturbed after her husbands death and had to go to the same ward ads Hurley.
just my 2 cents.

I would guess because they are the main characters of the show "LOST," and they are LOST on the island...

Libby's involvement: volitional or no?

Is Libby part of the Dharma experiment or the government, with some role to play in whatever they are attempting to learn/do with the Losties? Or is she herself a lostie? Was the whole boat thing with Desmond a long con, him making her think she thought of giving him the boat? Or was she inserted into his life with a rigged boat to draw him to the Lost island? Was she a plant in the hospital to find out what Leonard was doing, and did she follow Hurley to Australia to see what he discovered from Leonard's friend's widow? Did she really have feelings for Hurley? Or was part of her experiment to see if she could motivate him to lose weight?

"HUH? Libby is NOT one of the Others if that's what you're saying. She was on the plane and she's one of the Tailies" When I say lostie I meant one who is not part of the dharma team. One could have been on the plane and not really be a lostie per se.

when we watch the last part of the episode where we see hurley in the mental hospital, we can hear the nurse calling libby by her name to take pills, so she is libby and not her twin sister as it is mentioned above
