Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute

Santa Rosa Mental Health InstituteSanta Rosa Mental Health Institute is a mental hospital which Hurley was admitted to. He most likely went there because he believed he caused two people to die on a balcony collapse. It was only supposed to hold 8 people, but 23 people where on it. It collapsed when he went on it. He believes the numbers which he used to win the lottery are cursed. He created an imaginary friend, named Photo of Hurley Without DaveDave. Hurley's doctor, Dr. Brooks, says that Dave is a bad influence, and doesn't exist. He proves this by taking a photo of both of them. The photo only shows Hurley, and not Dave. Dave tries to make Hurley escape, but He locks Dave outside when Dave escaped. Another patient, Leonard Sims, kept repeating the numbers over and over. When Hurley visited Santa Rosa to Libby at Santa Rosatalk to him about using the numbers, he went crazy, saying to get away from the numbers. Libby was also a patient at the hospital. The reason for her being there is unknown, but it is probably because her husband, David died. Locke's mother, Emily Locke, was treated for schizophrenia at Santa Rosa.

After getting off the Island, Hurley is sent back to Santa Rosa. There, a visitor, Matthew Abbadon, sees him. He is an attorney for Oceanic Airlines, who asked him a few questions. Hurley got scared, and Matthew walked away. Later, Hurley saw Charlie, but it was only a vision. Jack visits him there, to see if he is "going to tell".

Questions:
  • Why was Libby at the hospital?
  • Is there a connection between Dave and Libby's husband, David?
