Background: Ian Somerhalder was born in Convington, Louisiana. His mother is a massage therapist, while his father is a building contractor. They divorced when he was young. He went to a Catholic school. Ian began modelling at the age of 10, for Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabanna, Gucci, Versace, and Guess. He then went into acting, with his first major role in The Rules Of Atrraction. He had a starring role in the 2006 horro thriller Pulse. Additionally. he appeared as Adam Knight in the third season of Smallville, has guest roles in the CSI spinoffs, The Big Easy, and Recess.

Trivia:

• He was the face of Guess? for two consective Fall seasons.
• Doesn't like to talk abotu his modelling career because of the impressions people might get of him as just being another pretty face.
