Background: Michelle Rodriguez was born to a Puerto Rican father and amother formt he Domincian Republic and has a total of ten siblings and half-siblings. She lived in Texas until the age of eight, when her family moved to the Domincian Republic. The family lived there for two years before relocating to nearby Puerto Rico. When she was eleven her family moved for the last time to Jersey City, New Jersey. She was raised a Jehovah's Witness. She speaks fluent Spanish.

Micheele is known for portraying 'tough chicks' on screen. She was an extra in such films as Summer of Sam (1999), and Cradle Will Rock (1999) and starred in the movies Blue Crush and SWAT. Her breakthrough role was the lead in the movie Girlfight (2000) which led to notable acting roles in The Fast And The Furious and Resident Evil.

Triva:

• She was the original choice for the title roles in Aeon Flux (2005) which was directed by the same director as Girlfight.
• Voice-acted for the video game Halo 2
• Was arrested on December 1, 2005 within 15 minutes of Cynthia Watros (Libby). Both women were charged with DUI (drunk-driving). Having been found guilty Rodriguez decided to do time in jail rather than community service. She was sentenced to six days in prison of which she served three. This conviction also broke the terms of her probation for a previous reckless driving conviction in the state of California. Upon her return to the state, she was immediately sentenced to 60 days in prison and her probation was extended for another two years.
• It was rumoured that her character was killed off in the series because she is such a nightmare to work with, according to reports in the US. These rumours were dismissed by Damon Lindelof.
• Rodrigues is rumored to be in a relationship with actress Kristanna Loken, who did not deny it when asked directly.
