The characters are in jail, but not now, they live in the future, when being in prison is a way to re-educate the people.
So they live in this island, have proof to go over and become a better person, when they understand and repent for their mistake they are free and they die in this fictional island.

i saw something one day and i thought about it came here browsed through and i noticed something the monters are there to catch the escaping prisoners and the prison doubled as a reserch station for darman.
